Conversations at this year’s gathering of global leaders focused on a wide variety of interconnected topics.
During a McKinsey Live webinar, senior partners Tracy Francis and Sven Smit, fresh from the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, offered their takeaways from the meeting and answered questions about the issues that drove the agenda in Davos, including:
- Generative AI. Gen AI dominated discussions in Davos last week. But it’s also clear from conversations that business leaders are still grappling with how and where to use gen AI most effectively, and how to ensure the applications are fully adopted and scaled within their organizations
- Geopolitics and global cooperation. Amidst ongoing global conflicts and higher political tension, leaders recognize the need to address compounding risks, including the ongoing reconfiguration of global trade patterns. More shifts are likely and businesses need to be aware of the potential trade-offs of different paths ahead.
- Women’s health. Compared with men, women live longer but spend 25 percent more of their lives in poor health. The McKinsey Health Institute, in collaboration with the WEF Center for Health and Healthcare, unveiled new research on the economic opportunity of closing the women’s health gap and the actions needed to address it.
