Bunsho leads the firm’s Private Equity & Principal Investors Practice in Japan and serves private-equity funds and principal investors to support investment activities.
He has over 15 years of experience in the M&A field and has extensive knowledge and experience in corporate- and business-unit strategy development, cross-border M&A support—both buy side and sell side—and portfolio value up including organizational transformation.
Bunsho also leads our sustainability-investment work and helps clients make investments in the sustainability field and decarbonize their portfolio.
Examples of Bunsho’s recent client work include the following:
- developing a Japanese principal investors’ global strategy on decarbonization and establishment of a joint venture
- supporting a Japanese private equity’s funds and principal investor’s M&A capability building, which included investment theme development, target search and initial assessment, and outreach strategy
- leading various business due-diligence projects with global and local private-equity funds, which covers a wide range of industries including automobiles, chemicals, consumer-packaged goods, energy, and food
- leading the organizational transformations and decarbonization activity for private equity funds and a principal investor’s portfolio companies
Before joining the firm, Bunsho spent nine years with Mitsui & Co., where he led multiple mergers, acquisitions, and transactions in its energy-business unit.
