Frederik leads McKinsey’s technology work for the telecommunications sector in Europe. He helps telecom operators and technology providers transform their technology foundation and ensure competitiveness in a highly innovative industry. This includes modernizing technology architecture, adopting agile ways of working at scale, and shifting toward a true engineering culture.
Since joining McKinsey in 2014, Frederik has brought a pragmatic attitude and hands-on technical expertise to the challenge of helping companies boost their performance by transforming their use of technology. He partners with leaders to set ambitious targets, drive multiyear transformation programs, and build the required capabilities to deliver success.
Beyond the telecom and financial-services sectors, Frederik also enjoys bringing his expertise to less mature industries, supporting clients who can leapfrog technology capabilities to create competitive advantages.
Examples of his recent client work include:
- modernizing and simplifying technology for a European telecommunications provider, creating a future-proof modular foundation while reducing total cost of ownership by 25 percent
- helping a European telecommunications provider improve its sales and service experience for both customers and employees, increasing net-promoter scores and boosting proactive digital engagement
- consolidating the data-center footprint for a global financial institution, designing the migration approach, and driving adoption of modern resiliency and security practices.
Before joining McKinsey, Frederik built software for data-center infrastructure management. In his spare time, he likes to experiment with new technology, from Raspberry Pi Kubernetes clusters to 3D printing and home automation systems.
