Xavier is a partner in McKinsey’s France office, supporting utilities, industrial clients, public agencies, and investors across the energy value chain. He coleads our work on energy in France and leads our work on gas across Europe.
Xavier’s client work spans investment and growth strategies, energy commodities trading and risk management, and operational transformation. He has considerable experience across multiple energy markets, including renewables and clean tech, natural gas and LNG, biofuels, petroleum products, and coal.
Examples of Xavier’s recent work include the following:
- advising a European utility on its B2B and B2C marketing and origination strategy for gas and power
- helping a major utility in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region to develop a trading strategy and desk set-up covering operating model, design, processes, and systems requirements
- supporting the natural-gas unit of an international oil company with commercial due diligence for a $1.7 billion LNG trading portfolio
- assisting a government with a gas and power market-liberalization strategy, including third-party access, exchange, and security of supply requirements
In addition to his client work, Xavier regularly contributes to knowledge development in his areas of expertise. He has written more than a dozen articles on energy topics and has been a featured speaker at several industry conferences.
Before joining McKinsey, Xavier was a managing director at a major global consulting firm, where he led teams in London, Singapore, and Paris serving energy and commodities companies on issues in M&A, trading, finance, and growth strategy.
Xavier holds an executive MBA from HEC Paris, an MSc in aeronautical engineering from Imperial College London, and a BEng in engineering mechanics from McGill University, Montreal.
