Motohiro serves clients by offering managerial perspectives on integrated corporate topics, such as corporate visions and goals, midterm strategy, business- and financial-portfolio development, core-business-model construction, operational improvement, and organizational redesign. He brings in-depth expertise in growth strategy (for both organic and inorganic growth), as well as corporate transformation and turnaround. Motohiro serves clients in several sectors: consumer goods, retail, energy and infrastructure, and trading. In the trading sector, he specializes in working with sogo shosha (large, general Japanese trading firms).

Motohiro joined McKinsey in 2014. His experience prior to joining the firm includes a decade at Mitsubishi Corporation in oil-and-gas upstream and liquefied-natural-gas project investment and development, as well as management consultation across the consumer, retail, infrastructure, energy, and private-equity sectors. He also managed the corporate transformation of a traditional large Japanese company (Kokuyo Co., Ltd.), resulting in the successful turnaround of the organization’s domestic business ventures and its endeavors across Asia, which progressed via cross-border M&A.
