Gonçalo is the managing partner of our Luanda office. He joined McKinsey in 2009 in Lisbon and has since worked across multiple geographies, primarily in Europe and Africa. Gonçalo leads McKinsey Transformation in Africa, dedicating a significant portion of his time to working in financial services.
Here are some examples of Gonçalo’s recent client work:
- managed a full digital transformation for an African microlender across ten markets over a three-year period. This included setting up its digital factory, developing nine new digital journeys, and formulating a complete go-to-market strategy
- led the growth transformation of a medium-sized bank in East Africa
- steered the turnaround of a medium-sized retail bank in sub-Saharan Africa
- oversaw the market-entry strategy for a Southern African bank
Before joining McKinsey, Gonçalo completed a summer internship at JPMorgan in London.
Gonçalo holds an MBA from INSEAD (Dean’s List) and an undergraduate and graduate degree in management from Nova School of Business and Economics.
