Neil, a partner in McKinsey’s London office, leads our RTS Practice in the energy and materials sector. Since joining the firm in 2013, he has led large-scale transformation programmes in engineering-based businesses, including upstream operators in the North Sea, mines in continental Europe and Nordic countries, and construction and building-materials businesses in the Middle East and Africa.
Neil gained his deep expertise over the past 18 years in a variety of interim management and restructuring advisory roles, principally in manufacturing, oil and gas, mining and smelting, construction, and financial services. He has held a number of interim board and officer roles in a variety of jurisdictions in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Neil’s experience in transformation and restructuring includes the following positions:
- co-chief transformation officer for a major oil company’s UK transformation
- chief restructuring officer of a Nordic specialty-chemicals business during its operational-turnaround programme and the restructuring of its debt
- CTO for an Arctic Circle mining business, accelerating the ramp-up of operations following its acquisition out of insolvency
- board member and COO for a regulated UK financial-services business established to wind down the assets of a global banking institution following its Chapter 11 insolvency
Earlier in Neil’s career, he was a partner in the Restructuring Practice of Alvarez & Marsal Europe, where he held a variety of board and interim management roles. He also spent five years working with the leveraged-finance and special-situations teams of Bank of America and Barclays Capital.
